Pep Guardiola reveals when Erling Haaland expected to return after Man City star misses out against Liverpool with knee injury

Erling Haaland did not make Manchester City's matchday squad for Liverpool clash as Pep Guardiola revealed when the forward will return to action.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Haaland, who picked up a knee injury during Manchester City's win over Newcastle United last weekend, barely made the City bench during their Champions League second-leg fixture against Real Madrid. On Sunday, the Norwegian was omitted from the matchday squad as the reigning champions squared off against Liverpool at Etihad Stadium.

  • WHAT PEP GUARDIOLA SAID

    Speaking to ahead of the Premier League clash, Guardiola explained why Haaland was kept out of the team as he said: "Yesterday after training he didn't feel good. During these nine years, we played many seasons without really important players and we survived. This season, we have had a lot of injuries and we could not survive, but in specific games, we have to do it."

    When further pressed on when the Norwegian could return to action, the manager added: "He improved but he didn't feel good. Hope so [against Spurs]. But we'll see. He'll come back when he feels good."

    The Spanish also revealed that tests were conducted on Haaland's knee to find out the extent of his injury.
